This two-day festival celebrates the ocean with exhibits, classes, nature tours, and children’s activities all about our coastal environment.
Visitors can learn about the science of our shorelines and how to care for them for years to come. Activities at both locations include seining (a type of net fishing), coastal crafts, an energy-saving scavenger hunt, kids fishing clinics, face painting, touch tanks, a student science fair competition and fiddler crab races. The Sandy Hook location will also feature guided tours of historic sites and an open house at the NOAA/James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory. A free shuttle bus service will be available at both locations to take visitors to tour sites.
Ocean Fun Days will take place on Saturday at Island Beach State Park and on Sunday at Sandy Hook.
