Gather around the fire at Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Site to light New Jersey’s Colonial Colleges Yule Log.

This year’s yule log lighting tells of Queen Charlotte, the original royal namesake of New Jersey’s Queen’s College, today Rutgers, whose passion for gardening and commitment to children and charity brought the first Christmas tree to Windsor Castle and the wider world in 1800.

Visitors are welcome to toss sprigs of holly on the fire and enjoy a festive open house at Old Dutch Parsonage. Dress for a brief outdoors discussion.

This program concludes a jubilee year for 125 years of historic preservation at Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage from Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 to Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

The Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage Association are dedicated supporters of Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Sites carrying on the tradition of civic engagement in historic preservation at Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage begun 125 years in 1897 by the Revolutionary Memorial Society of New Jersey. Today the association supports the State Park Service as New Jersey prepares for the 250th anniversary of New Jersey’s first Constitution in 2026 and George Washington’s winter headquarters at Wallace House in 2028-29:
