Ocean Charter School’s Winter Faire is an annual community celebration honoring the school, Winter Solstice, the joy of children, Waldorf traditions, handmade crafts, local artisans, and the end of the fall harvest season.

This eco-friendly event has an emphasis on nature, homemade crafts, and gifts as opposed to the more commercial aspects of the season.

Guests can enjoy winter crafts, such as candle rolling, making gnome/fairy homes, and weaving. Other fun includes:

• SNOW FAIRY MARKET- A magical children-only store where they may ‘buy’ inexpensive hand-made gifts provided by the community. No adults are admitted; younger children are guided by older children dressed as winged helpers.

• THE CRYSTAL QUEST – A beautiful winter grotto houses a winding path of mysteries and obstacles leading to an audience with King and Queen Winter. Every child who completes the quest is rewarded with a treasure.

• THE SNOW GLOBE THEATER – Performances by the children of OCS and various other local professional performers, magicians, dancers, and story tellers entertain guests.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own "Mess Kit" (plates, forks, spoons, mugs) and water bottles as part of the campus' zero waste policy.
