Grab your rod and reel:  the fish are bitin' at Mile Square Park.

OC Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Angler Chronicles host the annual Kids’ Fishing Derby at the North Lake at Mile Square Regional Park. Kids ages 6 to 15 fish for free at the Fishing Derby and compete to win prizes for finalists and winners in different age groups. The lake is stocked with over 1,000 pounds of trout or catfish for the derby. Fishing clinics are held on-site and a limited quantity of fishing rods are available for loan.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration for the derby is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The Fishing Derby is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Rain does not cancel event.
