CicLAvia - South LA
CicLAvia opens up the streets in South LA for a 5-mile route along Western Avenue, from Exposition to Century.
CicLAvia participants show up anywhere along the route at any time to enjoy the open streets and to take the time to explore the neighborhoods along the route: Vermont Square, Harvard Park, Chesterfield Square, Exposition Park, and King Estates.
CicLAvia is derived from a Spanish term for "bike path" and its goal is to turn LA into one big bike path, if just for a few hours. People are encouraged to leave their cars at home and bike, walk, skateboard, or push a stroller to discover our beautiful city at non-motorized speeds. CicLAvia offers a wide variety of activities for people of all interests and ages, including music, performances, food trucks galore, and more.
The hubs for this event are at Exposition, "Western" (between 48th and 54th), Florence and Century.
Hubs have restrooms, free water refilling stations, free basic bike repair, bike parking, and first aid. In addition, free pedicab rides courtesy of AARP are available at each information booth.
Note: CicLAvia is not a race and you don't need a bike to participate. You can walk, skate, dance, or play to your heart's content!
