Little Amal is a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl, spreading her story of hope as she discovers the beating heart of America, its blended culture and diverse people

Artists and institutions across Los Angeles give this little refugee a giant welcome as she arrives in Los Angeles as part of her epic 6,000-mile journey across the United States this fall.

It is always free to walk with Amal.

On November 1,  Amal walks to the UCLA Community School with local children and families. (7:45am)

She is then welcomed to El Pueblo, the historic birthplace of LA, where she is surrounded by the vivid colors and sounds of Dia de Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. (3pm)

Later in the day, Amal walks through Pasadena, where she meets a group of deaf children, and learns that the loudest truths have no sound.

On November 2, Amal walks through Skid Row, and discovers that there are many people like her, who have no home. There is crafting to make art that welcomes Amal, starting at 12pm.

She then visits Santa Monica Pier, where she watches the sunset and she is blessed by the music and dance of Hālau Hula Keali`i O Nālani, (5pm)

Amal closes out the day at Jerry Moss Plaza at the Music Center, where she joins in a moment of reflection and celebration for those who have made crossings. (6:30pm)

On November 3, for Amal's last day in Los Angeles, she visits The Kia Forum Parking Lot in Inglewood, where visionary director and choreographer Debbie Allen creates a kaleidoscope of swirling monarch butterflies, echoing Amal's migration journey. (10:30am)
