Winston Preparatory School Open House
- see all dates
Also on February 12, 2018, February 26, 2018.
Winston Prep, an individualized and responsive setting for students with specific learning differences, will be hosting an open house.
<!--break-->
Traditionally, they serve students in 4th through 12th grade, but they are prepared to serve elementary age students younger than 4th grade. Students struggle with language processing disorders such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities such as Aspergers, and executive functioning difficulties associated with ADHD. Their model of education for the individual provides intense skills remediation, while encouraging students to build independence, resilience, responsibility, self-awareness, and self-advocacy. They feel that the key to the development of each student is the focus on assessment-based remediation, the daily one-to-one Focus Program, the skill-based curriculum, small homogenous class groupings, an expert faculty, an emphasis on social-emotional development, and a supportive community. Over the last two decades Winston Preparatory School has continued to expand its reach in order to help more students in need, and replicate its model in order to make an impact on the field. They are once again considering an expansion on Long Island. The first phase of this investigation began on September 1, 2017 and will continue through February 2018. During this time they will be networking with allied professionals, evaluating real estate possibilities and meeting interested families in a pre-admissions process. This pre-admissions process will be coordinated by WPS veteran Karen Preston.
Future open house dates include:
