Multicultural STEAMM Sensory Installation
Join Full STEAMM Ahead, as it partners with Love Without Borders for its latest magical STEAMM-themed (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math and Mindfulness) adventure.
Children, of all ages, are invited to join it on a journey throughout the Middle East and Greece to help create a Multicultural Sensory Installation guaranteed to delight the senses.
Activities Include:
Multicultural Sensory Art Installation
Witness your child move to the rhythm of beautiful music from the Middle East in this unique cultural immersion experience. All participants will be provided with their own canvas, tape(symbolic of artists masking their emotions and feelings) and will be permitted to choose from a variety of mediums such as spices, natural organic paints and coffee to produce a novel type of sensory perception installation. The project will then be enhanced using various chemical reactions. At the end of the project, children will peel off the tape to reveal the new reality in which we live. This unique opportunity will be facilitated by Bank Street educator and owner of The Wild Child Organic Artist, Antonia Fthenakis.
Awakening of Senses
What brings out the flavor of humanity is diversity. You are invited to practice the art of mindfulness for a whimsical awakening of the senses. Participants will be invited to to imprint their feet in middle eastern spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, turmeric and mint as they explore portals to new worlds filled with inspiration. The program is designed to align us to the experience of being alive in this magical universe. Tasting all the diverse flavors we find our shared humanity. Together we are whole. Led by Dr. Hildur Palsdottir, Treesister, environmental educator, ordained interfaith minister, Reiki Master and mindfulness instructor at Sol Center of Port Washington.

Syrian Coffee Reading For Kids

In this child friendly adaptation, participants will learn to produce a natural paint and create lovely coffee ground art. The artwork will then be interpreted by our expert tasseographer to predict the mysteries of the universe and the future. Guaranteed to delight the young and the old.
The Sweet Taste of Syria: For Syrians, food is a reflection of a rich and diverse culture that has been forged and blended through years of conquests, migrations and trade, and which brings together the dishes of so many cultures.
