Port Jefferson's Port Paws Dog Festival highlights the abilities of handlers and their pooches in various dock dog competitions. 

The dock dog competitions are open to all and teams are made up of one dog plus their handler. Canines of any breed or size, 6 months or older are eligible. Handlers must be at least 7 years old (there is a youth handler class for ages 7-14). Food trucks and demonstrations will also be on hand.
