DATE CANCELED Public Star Party
- see all dates
Also on May 18, 2024.
We spoke to soon! Looks like the skies are disappearing after all: due to projected rain and clouds, the public star party for Saturday, April 13, is canceled.
After the sun's disappearing act this week, it's probably a good idea to take a look at the sky and make sure the stars are still there....
The Observatory's free public star party offers a chance for the whole family to look at the sun, moon, planets, and other objects with the assistance of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, the Los Angeles Sidewalk Astronomers, and the Planetary Society.
The knowledgeable amateur astronomers share their equipment and answer questions about the sky.
Note: the astronomers and telescope demonstrators must cut off the line for each telescope to enable all viewing to be completed by 9:45pm.
Check out our list of observatory and planetarium events around LA for more opportunities to observe the night sky.
