Process Art Kids - Toddler Art Playdate
Has your child ever painted with trucks? Hurled rainbow spaghetti across the room? Painted his/her own body, in addition to the easel, with shaving cream or paint? No? Join us for open-ended play experiences within the medium of art, sensory and science.
What is Process Art? Sometimes referred to as action art or sensory art, Process Art puts a stronger emphasis on the creative journey of making art rather than the end result. There are no instructions to follow, no rules, no right or wrong way of exploring, no pre-set project. Process art is all about open-ended play experiences with art mediums and exploring what they can do.
This Process Art Kids experience is intended for children ages 12 months- 48 months. (If you’re bringing along an older sibling that’s perfectly fine, just be sure to register them too!)
All activities use non-toxic materials and some activities are even considered "edible". These are great for those kids that still put everything in their mouths.
Please note that we're a small business in its infancy. All events are held outside in the backyard of PAK owner, Rebecca H. LaRocco.
Events are 1.5 hours in duration. That said, our format is similar to what you might think of as centers with invitations or "provocations" to play, a teacher floating as a guide. So, unlike direct instruction class formats, there's really no hard start and finish. As a parent of young children, we find this provides a level of relaxation to the experience. Arrive when you can and leave when you need to. It's what's best for you and your child. Think of it as an open studio setup with various experiences to explore.
Kids will enjoy activities including:
Action Painting with Fly Swatters
Race Car Ramp Painting
Fizzy Rainbow Potion at the Sensory Bin
"Peel and Stick"- Inpired by Artist Yayoi Kusama’s Obliteration Room installation
Edible Paint
Sensory Goop
Edible Water Beads Water Play
Crinkle Paper Sensory Bin
