Join an interactive kite-making activity that explores the connection between aerodynamics and craftsmanship.

 

Construct a frame using wooden dowel rods, and personalize your kite to reflect your unique style. Discover the crucial role of a kite’s tail in stabilizing flight, and receive valuable guidance on how to achieve take off and maintain flight! This activity will take place indoors and is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Enjoy flying your kite the next day at Hermann Park Conservancy’s Kite Festival, Sunday, April 7, from 10 AM – 3 PM. This free day full of fun and kite-flying includes live music, a DJ, interactive games and activities, and face painting.

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity. Materials are provided.
