KidsPlay Children’s Museum will present Kid Flicks, a touring program of the New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF) at the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre of the Warner Theatre on Saturday, February 16.

Children and their families will explore new worlds without leaving the Northwest Corner! The Festival will include 3 short film programs featuring audience favorite and award-winning short films from the 2018 New York International Children’s Film Festival, the nation’s largest film festival for kids and teens. These films encourage exploration, empathy, learning, and, of course, tons of fun!

Kid Flicks One gives a warm welcome to all budding cinephiles with this lively international lineup of fun. This program is curated for ages 3-7, the films in this program rely on music, color, and clear narratives to tell stories either in English or without dialogue. Kick off the festivities with good hygiene and great dubstep in Party Mouth (USA), then let your hair—or, er fur—down and hang loose in I Want to Live in the Zoo (Russia). And, even if you get into a tangle, there will be someone to catch and cheer you on with the charming If You Fall (Canada). Recommended ages: 3-7, 52 min. in English, or with no dialogue. Showtimes 11:00 am and 5:30 p.m.

Kids Flicks Two With a compelling range of styles and themes, Kid Flicks Two offers clever, thought-provoking films sure to inspire audiences ages 8+ to expand their horizons. In the Grand Prize award-winner Game (USA), AJ has the drive to excel but must push through obstacles to get there. Meanwhile, teamwork takes on different stripes when an odd couple of bears are forced to work together in the hilarious stop-motion short Poles Apart (UK). Plus, the CG-animated wonder Gokurōsama (France) bridges cultures and generations by showing us that even in an automated age, a little human touch can still work wonders.

Recommended ages: 8+, 79 min. Some films include English subtitles appropriate for the age group. Showtime 1:00 p.m.

¡Viva Kid Flicks! A Spanish-language program of animated, documentary, and live action films full of warmth, wit, and the cultural richness of our friends and neighbors to the south: Mexico. Drawn from the Festival’s annual Friends and Neighbors program spotlighting a different country every year, this lineup is co-curated with Mexico’s Morelia International Film Festival. These films are perfect for Spanish learners, speakers, and all seekers of fun, artistic, and enriching cultural experiences.

Recommended ages: 7+, 74 min. In Spanish with English subtitles, or with no dialogue. Showtime 3:30 pm
