Make Music Day
Celebrate Make Music Day at Connecticut’s oldest house. Enjoy an evening of free outdoor music performances on the museum’s front lawn as part in a global celebration of music on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.
Bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic - - or better yet, get food and drink from on-site vendors, including The Leaner Wiener. The event will feature various musicians, including a return engagement by the Skunk Misery Ramblers who figuratively brought the house down last year. New this year, audience members are encouraged to bring their own instruments to play during intermissions between scheduled performances. Check the event listing on the museum’s Facebook page for the latest details on the performance schedule and food vendors. There is free parking and no charge for the performances and Visitor Center. The Whitfield House will be open for self-guided tours ($6 admission and free for children ages 12 and younger). The event will be canceled if it rains.
