Little Britches 40th Anniversary Horse Show
The Inaugural Little Britches Horse Show will celebrate the organization’s 40-year history of serving western Connecticut by showcasing the accomplishments of riders.
More than 40 riders will demonstrate the confidence and skills they’ve gained by through Little Britches’ therapeutic riding program. Events will feature riders taking part in an obstacle course and a dressage demonstration. Other highlights will include speakers, children’s activities and a ribbon presentation.
Founded in 1979 by Peg Sweeney and Betty Lou McColgin, Little Britches aims to change the lives of people with disabilities using the movement of the horse. Little Britches serves approximately 80 individuals per week from 29 towns in the tri-county area. Little Britches provides an opportunity for students to participate in a sport; they are no longer spectators sitting on the sidelines. They are riders in the center of the ring – they become the sports stars.
Horse Show sponsors include: Olde Crabs Hockey Club, Permobil Foundation, Eversource and Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation.
*Rain date is October 6
