New Exhibition Grand Opening and Presentation at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago
The Chinese American Museum of Chicago hosts a special presentation for the Grand Opening of a new temporary exhibition, "The Chinese Helped Build the Railroad – The Railroad Helped Build America," which begins March 2, 2019, to coincide with the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike at Promontory Summit in Utah.
The bilingual exhibit, which features photographs by Li Ju, pays tribute to the approximately 12,000 Chinese workers who completed the west coast portion of the world’s first Transcontinental Railway.
"The Chinese Helped Build the Railroad – The Railroad Helped Build America" was organized by the Chinese Railroad Workers in North America Project at Stanford University and Li Ju.
This special presentation will provide background to Chinese contribution in the building of the Transcontinental Railroad and its impact on Chinese immigration and migration.
Same-day walk-in availability is not guaranteed. If there are available seats on the day of the event, the admission fee at the door is $15.
This public sale is for non-members. Members will be invited separately. If you are a member and you have not received an invitation, please contact us at your earliest convenience.
