Black Grace Family Matinee
For this matinee performance, Black Grace will perform a special curation from the company’s repertoire. It will feature sections of their new work, Paradise Rumour, which debuted in March 2023. For added cultural and historical context into Ieremia’s choreography, this performance will also include sections of Kiona and the Little Bird Suite, one of Black Grace’s most celebrated works. This piece utilizes body percussion influenced by traditional Samoan Sasa (seated dance) and Fa’ataupati (slap dance), and incorporates live drumming, singing and chanting.
The PNC Family Series gives kids a chance to learn more about music in a shush-free environment. Kids are encouraged to laugh, clap, and experience the show in their own way, and will even get a chance to meet the performers afterward.
