A lush collection of bonsai trees from the New England Bonsai Garden (NEBG) will be on display, showcasing a variety of deciduous, evergreen, and tropical species. Visitors can learn about the unique characteristics of each type and discover how to care for these beautiful plants.

The Bonsai Show is located outside the historic Bird’s World building, known for its Asian-inspired architecture.

At 11:00 a.m., an Ikebana demonstration will take place, featuring the Japanese art of floral arrangement. Presented by Boston Ikebana, this session highlights how floral displays can tell vivid stories through thoughtful design.

For those interested in learning more, the NEBG offers a Bonsai Basics Workshop at Franklin Park Zoo’s Nature’s Pavilion on Saturday, August 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This 2.5-hour, hands-on workshop is ideal for beginners and covers the origins of bonsai, design principles, and care techniques. Tickets are available through NEBG. Please note that zoo admission is required separately.
