Vernal pools are homes to frogs, salamanders, and even fairy shrimp. Find out about these incredible, temporary bodies of water and visit one of the Blue Hill's vernal pools to discover who lives there. These "wicked big puddles" may be one of the best places to study the relative health of the nature of Massachusetts.

This program begins in the museum's auditorium with a look at the history and biology of Massachusetts' vernal pools. Participants will go on a short trip to a vernal pool in the Blue Hills. A Trailside naturalist will help locate and identify the living things found at the pool.

Please wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for a short walk outside. Rain date for this program is Sunday, April 28.

Registration is required in advance.
