Tap a Tree
Nothing beats that first drip from a tap in a sugar maple tree, and nothing kicks off the season quite like hanging a bucket to capture that sap which will soon turn into your favorite sweet treat - maple syrup!
Help support your maple sugaring operation by adopting a tree. Take the time at home to design your own tree label on a regular piece of paper (8.5 x 11 inches). When you arrive, they will laminate your label so you can attach it to your chosen tree.
Once your labels are laminated, take a hike to the sugar bush where each family will choose their sugar maple. Along the way you will learn about what it means to be a maple farmer - from identifing the tree, to learning the tools of the trade to the actual tapping of the tree. Once your maple bucket is hung, and if the weather cooperates, look and listen for the first drops of sap. What do you think it tastes like?
At the end of the sugaring season, each family will receive a bottle of Moose Hill syrup from this year's season to complete the experience.
