Wednesday 2/20: Snow and Ice

Investigate and celebrate frozen water with these crafts and demos:

  • Build a 3D paper snowman or Design your own Snow Creature
  • Create your own Life Cycle of a Snowman Chart
  • 12:00 and 2:30: Dry Ice vs Regular Ice Demos

Thursday 2/21: Sleigh Rides – Turbo Boost Edition

Pressure played a big role in the pumping systems: see what it can do for a paper sleigh.

  • Build a balloon rocket sleigh and watch it zoom across the museum

Friday 2/22: Winter in the 1800s

Get a taste for what life was like over New England winters around the time the Pumping Station was built.

  • Try out tools used to gather water by hand, like the Yoke and Bucket
  •  Learn how New Englanders had to manage their midnight bathroom breaks
  •  Use fruit and vegetables to dye cloth for those winter layers
  •  Sample some hot apple cider
