We are blessed with a plethora of world-class wineries near Los Angeles. In nearly every direction you look, there are great opportunities for a day trip that includes kid-friendly wine tasting. Sure, you know of the long-established wine hotspots of Santa Barbara County like the Santa Ynez wineries and the up-and-comer sun-kissed Temecula wineries, but did you know there are great wineries in Malibu and even downtown LA? To help you find the most family-friendly places to enjoy a glass of vino while the kiddos frolic, we've gathered our favorite wineries near Los Angeles.

Did you know that one of the largest lakes in Texas is only one hour north of Houston? Part of the Pineywoods region, Lake Livingston is 39 miles long and has 450 miles of shoreline. Lake Livingston State Park is a hidden paradise of swimming, fishing, boating, and camping.  Lake Livingston is a great destination for families in Texas who love the outdoors - the tall trees provide shade when the temperatures start to rise, and you can jump in the water to cool off in the designated lake swimming area.

One of my go-to activities is to head to a construction site with my young children, who will sit and watch excavators and bulldozers move around dirt for hours. So when we learned that a construction-themed adventure park was opening near Houston, we drove from Pearland to Katy to check it out for ourselves. And Dig World delivered: Finally, my amateur construction workers could operate the equipment instead of just watching!
