The sixth, annual “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” features free, holiday-themed events showcasing the intersection of shopping, dining, and culture in the Flatiron neighborhood. The centerpiece of the festivities, Flatiron Reflection, selected through the fourth-annual Flatiron Plaza Holiday Design Competition in partnership with Van Alen Institute and NYC DOT Art, will be displayed on the North Public Plaza in the shadow of the famed Flatiron Building.

Flatiron Reflection, designed by Future Expansion, is a publicly spirited space that encourages new experiences of the city, new modes of dwelling in the plaza, and new views of its context. A bundle of shimmering tubes creates a fragmented column at the scale of the public plaza.

This year’s roster of 23 Days of Flatiron Cheer events:

  • Dive into dishes. Every Tuesday, starting today with Chefs John Doherty and Matteo Bergamini from Black Barn the Flatiron Partnership is sharing favorite holiday recipes of Flatiron chefs. Coming weeks will feature Cosme, Eataly, and the Natural Gourmet Institute amongst others.   Recipes will be available on FlatironDistrict.nyc and through weekly newsletters!

  • Work out on “Winter Wellness Wednesdays.” Sign up for free morning fitness classes at a number of Flatiron studios, including: Barry’s Bootcamp, bodē nyc, ANYA, New York Health & Racquet Club, ChaiseFitness and Tiger Schulmann MMA.

  • Relax and enjoy performances. Every Friday and Saturday, from Noon to 4:00 PM, there will be activities here on the North Public Plaza, with free beverages, and the ever-popular Prize Wheel. Fridays also will feature performances by The Peoples Improv Theater among others.

  • Tote around Flatiron. Every Saturday, the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership will distribute free “23 Days of Flatiron Cheer” tote bags filled with discounts to neighborhood businesses.

  • Walk around and discover. Every Sunday at 11:00 AM, the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership leads free, holiday-themed walking tours led by professional guides. This year includes a special tour on Sunday, December 3rd, focused on the Flatiron Building and including a discussion with the architects of Flatiron Reflection.

  • Veer into the virtual. New this year is a family-friendly Holiday Gift Preview Party at Sony Square NYC on December 12th at 6:00 PM, where attendees can experience virtual reality and other holiday-must haves. The event includes a festive mocktail and tasty bites from Flatiron’s new restaurant, Merakia. The first 350 attendees also receive an exclusive Sony PlayStation gift bag, courtesy of Sony Square NYC.

  • Savor the Winter Solstice. On December 21st MoMath and the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership will celebrate the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. Festivities kick off at 4:00 PM, when attendees can enjoy small bites and beverages from BONMi, and spin the Flatiron Prize Wheel. Starting at 6:00 PM participants can also help complete a stunning Fibonacci Spiral puzzle with the team at MoMath.

Visitors to the installation and participants in “23 Days” programming are encouraged to share their photos on social media using the hashtag #FlatironReflection. Throughout the month of December, photos using the hashtag will be entered to win prizes from local businesses.
