Native Life in the Hudson Valley: Lenape Technologies at Rockefeller State Park Preserve

Get a glimpse into the life of indigenous people who have lived along the Hudson River Valley as far back as 12,000 years ago in this program at Rockefeller Preserve. Barry Keegan will provide hands-on experience making twine from local plants and will demonstrate Lenape technologies such as flintknapping of stone tools, making animal glue, and using a mortar and pestle for grinding grains and nuts.
A display and discussion of other artifacts and replicas will follow including bows, arrows, animal traps, clothing and footwear, and models of watercraft such as bark canoe and dugout.
Max: 30 people. Ages 8+. Cost: $4. Parking: $6 per vehicle.
