The annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Ellipse features live musical performances. The tree will be lit every evening and open to the public from December 6 through January 1. 

Surrounding it will be more than 58 smaller trees representing the U.S. states and territories, each featuring unique ornaments created by students. 

The free ticket lottery is open October 29.
