Gallery Storytime at American University: Filipino American Heritage Month
Tue Oct 7, 2025
10:00am to 11:00am ET
Age: 2-6
Price: Free
Location:
American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center
To celebrate Filipino American History Month, a special Storytime reading and programming geared towards pre-K families (ages 2-6) will feature the carabao at American University.
Tristen Gambito’s Pepe and the Magical Carabao, Norma Pablo’s Albi the Pink Carabao, and Sylvia Mendez Ventura’s telling of The Carabao-Turtle Race will share the rich folklore tradition of Filipino culture with young audiences.
To accompany these stories, little hands will make their own ‘magic carabao’ shaker. Jeanne F. Jalandoni’s Carabao Mother sits at the entrance of the show.
This event will be held in-person at the museum.
