Discover archaeology at Mount Vernon and learn about how archaeologists help shape what is known about George Washington, the evolution of the estate, and the lives of the enslaved people who lived there. Meet real Mount Vernon archaeologists and ask them questions about their work.

The day includes hands-on activities for the whole family, including plotting objects on a Dig Grid, sorting objects and artifacts, and examining real artifacts excavated around Mount Vernon.
