Unsilent Night 2020
Each year, composer Phil Kline leads a massive chorus of boomboxes from the West Village to the East Village in the annual holiday presentation of Unsilent Night. This year, assembling en masse is not in the cards, but families can still take to the streets to celebrate—separately but together.
Gather your household or a small group of 4-8 friends for your own Unsilent Night anywhere in the city. Everyone doing their own thing, lighting up the city with music! The tracks can be downloaded through the Unsilent Night website and played on smartphones with bluetooth speakers, or anything that will play an mp3, and you can just do your own walk, in your own neighborhood.
Keep this spirit alive this year while keeping everyone safe. Needless to say, wear masks, be mindful of distance, and keep it small and intimate!
