Wagner Free Institute of Science hosts its winter celebration offering seasonal activities and crafts with a Groundhog Day theme.
Guests can learn about the tradition of the groundhog seeing its shadow from Meteorologist Kelly Flanigan from PennEnvironment and other climate scientists. In addition, kids can participate in hands-on science activities throughout the building focused on Groundhog Day and weather folklore such as making a sundial, seeing a shadow puppet menagerie, searching in a Groundhog Day-themed scavenger hunt, and coloring a groundhog mask.
Activities are geared towards children ages 6-12 and their families; however, visitors of all ages are welcome. Admission and the program are free with a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. Registration is encouraged but not required. To register, call the museum or visit their website.
