Families can head to The Kimmel Center to see this manual cinema production called The Magic City. In the story, nine-year-old Philomena's inner world materializes as a pint-size metropolis of found objects in this magical retelling of Edith Nesbit's 1910 fantasy novel.

Philomena copes with the loss of her parents and her new blended family with the help of toy theater, shadow puppetry, live music, and live actors in silhouette. Through this, she is able to find a way to reconcile her Magic City with the reality of the world outside it.
