When is a box not a box?  When you turn it into a 3D sculpture!  The Japan Foundation LA hosts a free art workshop in conjunction with the opening of its new exhibit Package Craft: From Candy Box to Sculpture.

“Package Craft” is a playful papercraft that uses a box’s design to create imaginative artworks. Participants in this free workshop follow some basic rules to turn a candy box into a creature sculpture.

The process is simple but  surprisingly challenging. Children under 18 are welcome with a parent or guardian.

The 11am session makes a dog from a Sour Patch box.

The 1:30pm session makes a Swedish Fish fish!
