Take a deep dive into the microorganisms that make life delicious—in our drinks, bread, cheese, pickles, and more—with a screening, presentation, and community tastings. Flavor scientist Arielle Johnson, author of Flavorama: A Guide to Unlocking the Art and Science of Flavor, shares some of her current explorations of the molecular and physical experience of flavor as it intersects with aesthetic and cultural matters.

Tastings and conversations with other local food artisans are paired with a screening of Erik Shirai’s The Birth of Saké (2015).

Free admission; RSVP encouraged. Part of Open Worlds: Science, presented with support from the Simons Foundation.
