Join BikeSafe and The Underline for a day of fun while learning how to bicycle safely. Bike rodeos are bring-your-own-bike events. The program features bicycle “driving” courses, in a safe and protected environment, designed to simulate actual roadway situations commonly encountered by bicyclists.
A bike rodeo is an effective way to involve parents, teachers and civic and community groups in helping young children learn how to ride safely. They also provide a social and interactive way to reinforce safe bicycling skills. Such skills emphasized and practiced in a bicycle rodeo often include: starting and stopping, using hand signals, scanning for traffic without weaving, making turns, safe maneuvering, entering a roadway safely, avoiding hazards, and balancing.
