Camp Runoia
Camp Runoia is a down-to-earth girls’ sleepaway camp on the shores of Great Pond in Maine. Celebrating 120 years of tradition and empowerment in 2026, Runoia offers a progressive and inclusive community where campers develop confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships.
Diversity and inclusivity are at the heart of Runoia’s community. Campers and staff come from a wide range of cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, creating a rich and welcoming environment where every girl feels valued, supported, and empowered to use her voice.
With a choice-based structure and a small, kind community, campers are encouraged to take ownership of their summer experience. Each girl selects the activities she wants to participate in, allowing her to explore her interests, discover new passions, and develop confidence in decision-making. By choosing how to spend their days, campers learn to advocate for themselves, use their voices, and balance independence with collaboration, making every day at camp both empowering and fun.
Runoia offers flexible 10-day, 3-week, and 6-week sessions to meet the needs of families and campers. Full-time nursing staff and a social-emotional health professional are on-site throughout the summer, and all counselors are trained to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every camper can thrive. The hands-on director team knows every camper by heart and builds relationships with families that extend beyond the summer months.
Camp Runoia proudly offers a truly “traditional” camp experience—wooden cabins, canoeing on the lake, dining hall bells, and timeless activities such as archery, sailing, and more—while embracing progressiveness, inclusivity, and personal growth. Every camper leaves with confidence, empowerment, and memories that last a lifetime.
