The 53rd annual gift of an evergreen Christmas tree from Nova Scotia is arriving by police escort at Boston Common on Tuesday, November 26.

For 53 years, a holiday tree has been donated to the city of Boston, marking 106 years of friendship with Nova Scotia. This commemorates the assistance provided by the people of Boston to Halifax, Nova Scotia, after a catastrophic munitions explosion in 1917. The inaugural tree for Boston was donated in 1971 by Joseph Slauenwhite from Lunenburg County.
