Together in Time Public Opening
The Hammer Museum's redesign was 20 years in the making - and now it is celebrated with a day of art-making, talks and tours.
Visitors enter the through the newly transformed main entrance - which is currently bedecked in Chiharu Shiota's Uncertain, an imposing and captivating large scale artwork made entirely of red yarn. Other large scale pieces include Rita McBride's Particulates, in which high-intensity laser beams interact with ambient dust and water to a decidely futuristic effect, and Sanford Biggers' 25-foot-tall cast-bronze sculpture Oracle, which watches over both the museum and passers-by on Wilshire Boulevard.
The event page has the schedule for curator talks throughout the day. Guests can stop by the ArtLab for hands-on creative activities for all ages inspired by artworks on view at the museum
