Jewelry City Steampunk Festival
The Jewelry City Steampunk Festival is back. This unique event celebrates the turn-of-the-century industrial history that can be found throughout Southeastern Massachusetts through a kaleidoscopic lens of fantasy and whimsy.
Steampunk is an artistic and literary style inspired by Victorian-era industrialism that embraces the “what-if” concept of the era’s history and fashion blended with the splendid possibilities offered by authors like H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, as well as modern authors like K.W. Jeter and Phillip Pullman.
The festival will feature unique entertainment that ties in directly with the theme, including “tea duels” and “Splendid Teapot Racing”. Musical acts will perform outdoors and at the various scheduled venues throughout the day and unique characters and personalities will interact with festival visitors.
The event will be held in multiple locations throughout the city and will offer both free and premium programming.
