Travel back to November 20, 1776, and witness George Washington and General Greene on horseback as they lead the evacuating American troops across The Bridge that Saved a Nation to escape the invading British army and defend the New Bridge from the King's forces.

Join BCHS Volunteer Coordinator Kate Reilly for a tour of the New Bridge. The tour explains how imperative it was for Washington to cross the Hackensack before he could cross the Delaware.

All three-18th century Jersey Dutch sandstone houses including the state historic 1752 Steuben House are will be open for tours throughout the day.

On display in Steuben House are Revolutionary War artifacts from the society's extensive collection including the recently conserved 246-year-old Charleville Musket found at New Bridge in 1915.

Stop by the Westervelt-Thomas barn for a broom making demonstration.

Take a peek at the treasures in the gift shop while you enjoy donuts and hot cider which will be available for purchase inside the tavern.

Don't forget to visit the society's authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters will be cooking seasonal 18th century recipes on the open hearth.

Activities for families to include a scavenger hunt with a prize will be available throughout the afternoon.
