Indigenous Peoples' Day: Eastern Medicine Singers
Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrates and honors the culture and traditions of Indigenous People around the world. Join Mystic Seaport for an educational afternoon of drumming and singing with the Eastern Medicine Singers. Made up of RI, NY, NJ, and Southeastern Massachusetts Tribes, the Eastern Medicine Singers are dedicated to keeping the eastern woodlands American Indian culture alive and are proud to sing and drum in the language of Massachuset and Wampanoag dialect.
In this participatory program, enjoy traditional and contemporary music on the waterfront while learning about Indigenous traditions, history, and culture today. Bench seating is provided, but visitors are also welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the performance will take place in a covered location on the Museum grounds.
