The Secret World of Archy & Mehitabel

- see all dates
This one-act play is based on journalist Don Marquis’s newspaper columns that feature Archy, a cockroach with the soul of a poet, and his best friend Mehitabel the Cat, an alley cat who claims to have been Cleopatra in a past life.
With a full complement of talking spiders, flies, gnats, rats, ticks, fleas, and many other denizens of the underside, the play is laugh-out-loud funny, insightful and just downright entertaining.
Editor's note: I got to see the play with my daughter, and it's a really delightful show! The theater suggests that it's good for kids 10 & up, but as my 15-year-old said, "I think it's good for younger kids, too, because they won't understand the things that are too old for them, but they'll love the rest of it!"
It's a show that hits a sweet spot for families: while there are a lot of shows for really young kids (like Bob Baker) and then even more for teens, this show is really fun for everyone in the family 7-ish and up. You'll laugh, cry, and think about how we relate to each other and the world around us. And how little the world has changed in 100 years!
*The Whitefire Theatre requires all patrons and artists to show proof of vaccination or current negative test (within 72 hrs) for entry. Masks are recommended but not required.
