Sensory-Friendly Sunday at The Museum of Discovery and Science
- see all dates
Except December 25, 2022.
Also on December 18, 2022.
The Museum of Discovery and Science opens an hour early for sensory-friendly exploration and activities followed by an IMAX film. Individuals on the autism spectrum are invited to come and enjoy a more sensory-sensitive environment.
The program runs the fourth Sunday of every month through September 2022. The theater lights are turned up; the sound of the film is lowered, and all films are presented in 2D with no trailers. Moviegoers are welcome to get up, sing, walk, dance, or shout without worry. A different movie plays each Sunday. Please refer to the museum website for each month's title.
Families are welcome to bring snacks, blankets, and other small items to make themselves more comfortable. There are a variety of sensory activities throughout the museum. Children can engage in social interactions to help improve their processing, modulation, and sensory regulation.
The movie plays at 12:30pm.
