Roblox Game Design Spring Break Camp

Over the course of five days, students get an introduction to game design and Roblox Studio. Campers express creativity and unleash their inner game designer by designing their own Roblox games.
Throughout the week, instructors work with campers to help them create amazing Roblox experiences that they can share with their friends. Kids also learn how to enhance their world using Lua scripting.
Wiz Kid Coding believes in the power of collaborative learning, teamwork, and friendship. During the class, students participate in fun, community-building activities and team-based exercises designed to build collaboration skills and create an uplifting camp environment. Games are also designed to give students a break during the class to boost morale, ask questions, and take a breather.
Outcomes:
- Learn how to build, design, and publish Roblox games
- Improve creative thinking and storytelling skills through designing a plotline around a game
- Learn how to create user-friendly UX (user experience) designs for players
- Learn the basics of video game development
- Introduction to coding w/ Lua scripting; learn how to use Lua scripting to enhance worlds
- Build problem solving, creativity, and critical thinking skills
- Learn in a collaborative and social environment
Pre-requisites:
This class is an introductory class; however students should have basic computer and typing skills in order to have the best class experience. This includes skills like knowing how to use a keyboard, identifying letters on a keyboard, and knowing how to use a mouse (right click and left click). Please note that this class is not a coding class, although students are introduced to Lua scripting and use some coding to enhance their game design.
