Oakland's Chabot Space & Science Center celebrates the "noon year" with STEM activities and a festive balloon drop.

Kids can ring in the New Year without staying up past bedtime at this virtual event.

Attendees receive a special STEM Kit, filled with supplies for activities to be done the celebration.Hands-on activities are led by Chabot's Galaxy Explorers, along with an activity led by the Nano@Stanford and Stanford XLab teams. Activities include materials to make your own catapult, planet models, a magnetic experiment and a balloon drop engineering challenge.

The party ends with a special New Year drink recipe activity for the whole family and a dance party countdown to ring in 2021. Not to mention hundreds of colorful, bio-degradable balloons raining down from above!

The party takes place via Zoom. Registration for members is open now. Registration for non-members opens December 1.
