Winter Seal Walk at Cupsogue Beach County Park at SoFo
With the cold of winter, many northern animal visitors come to the South Shore of Long Island to find food—among them Pinnipeds, or seals.
The three most common species of seals that visit Long Island at this time of year are harbor seals, grey seals, and harp seals. Join a walk toward the ocean at Cupsogue Beach County Park, where at low tide you can expect to see some of these seals sunning themselves on the distant sandbar. It may be cold and windy, so please bundle up. Advanced reservations are required for all events.
RE: COVID-19
"Due to recent developments regarding COVID-19 in Suffolk County and throughout the country, SOFO will be closing the museum beginning today, Saturday March 14th until further notice. All of our outdoor programs and walks will continue as scheduled. The health and safety of our visitors and staff are of utmost importance to us. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and our website for announcements on upcoming programs and events. All the trails behind the museum will remain accessible from the museum's parking lot."
