First Saturdays for Families: Raise a Flag
Families are invited to consider how artist Hans Haacke alters the American flag in his artwork “State of the Union” (2005) to express his opposition to US policies during the Iraq War. Then, using mixed media, families construct personalized flags to represent themselves.
New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children between the ages of four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to three adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free.
No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
