Easter Egg Hunt at the Cathedral of the Incarnation
The cathedral again hosts an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday, with thousands of eggs hidden across 10 acres of land surrounding the Gothic cathedral building.
A special area for toddlers to hunt eggs without competition from older children will be provided. The event begins at 10am and is open to all, free of charge. The Cathedral of the Incarnation is located in the heart of the Village of Garden City at 36 Cathedral Ave. between Fourth Street and Sixth Street.
For the third year in a row, the Very Rev. Michael Sniffen, Dean of the Cathedral, has opened the egg hunt to anyone, whether they attend services or not. Those who are interested in joining for Easter Mass at the historic Episcopal cathedral are invited to attend the “Easter for Kids” Mass at 9:15 a.m., a shortened service geared towards “the young and the young at heart,” or the 11:15 a.m. Choral Mass, featuring the full Cathedral Choir.
There will be several surprises in store for those attending the egg hunt. The Easter Bunny will be present and this year he will bring a special magical friend: Cornelia the Unicorn. Cornelia is the mascot for the “Cathedral for Kids” program, turning the medieval Christian symbol of the unicorn featured on the cathedral shield into a kid-friendly symbol of faith.
