Hero's House
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles, and odds are definitely against OUR hero…but don’t tell her that.
Hero plays with common hero mythology, drawing from stories in literature and comic books. Through object puppetry, movement, and music, the audience follows this hero’s journey during the construction and reconstruction of shelter as she attempts to find security.
Lake Simons has received multiple Jim Henson Foundation Grants, was a 2014 Doris Duke Impact Award nominee, served as puppetry associate for War Horse on Broadway, has participated in the Puppet Lab at St Ann’s, Artist Residency Programs at HERE and Mabou Mines, and is 2018 artist-in-resident with Dixon Place.
Matt Acheson is a puppet and theater artist. He is a founder of AchesonWalsh Studios, a kinetic creation studio providing design, fabrication, direction and performance services, whose clients include Amazon Studios, Lincoln Center Theater, Radio City Music Hall & the Yale School of Drama. Currently AchesonWalsh Studios is designing and fabricating the monster for Loch Ness, a new musical which will open at the Adirondack Theatre Festival in July 2018.
