This varied park, with cultivated areas, walkways, woods, and trails, is great for late summer foraging.

Berries thrive in thickets here, and foragers should be on the lookout for the last of the year's blackberries, although this species has become rare since the advent of the iPhone. You could also find American hackberries, spherical, orange-brown fruits hanging from trees.

Bittersweet American black cherries may also still be around, and some of these intensely flavorful fruits could have dried and become like cherry-flavored raisins.

This 4-hour foraging tour begins at 11:45am. Call (914) 835-2153 at least 24 hours beforehand to reserve a place.
