Did you know that a maple tree and a tuna are related? If you go back far enough, all living things have a common ancestor. To keep track of the two million known species, scientists came up with a system of classification, known as taxonomy.

Biologist Colleen Evans, Staten Island Museum’s Director of Natural Science, invites young biologists to examine insect samples, create a species family tree, and learn how scientists use these methods to analyze ecosystems and stop the spread of disease.

Advance registration required.

And don't miss the City of Science fun in Washington Square Park!
