Legendary author and five-time Coretta Scott King Book Award-winner Sharon Draper celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Coretta Scott King Book Award, which honors “outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.”

Draper talks about her incredible career as a writer and the impact the award has had on her. She also leads a short writing exercise with attendees, answers audience questions, and signs books.
